Yesterday, my family and I left early for the beach. It was pretty windy, yet warm on the edge of the New Forest. My son suggested that I get in the sea up to my waist. I waded into the lukewarm water, and encouraged by seeing others, I plunged into the next wave.
Just a little encouragement can go a long way. The pay-off was huge. I’m getting a lot from being outdoors in nature at the moment!
You’ll likely be familiar with the quote: “You’re the average of the five people spend the most time with.” What you might not be familiar with is the concept that you get to choose who they are.
From my closest contacts, I get encouragement, positivity and excitement. We dare to dream and start reverse engineering how to get there. But to make that happen, I have had to edit. The naysayers, while well intentioned, spreading mediocrity and negativity, I have very little time for them. You absolutely have to spend less time with them or cut them out entirely because they are holding you back. I’m sure they are well intentioned, but if you want to change and they don’t, then how are you going to start?
A trick that’s helped me, is that once I’ve understood my goals, anything that isn’t aligned to that (or anyone) - can drop. That can be as simple as having a no-spending day, to choosing what to eat. It’s a decision-making input where you’ll never lose, but as ever, it requires you to make some choices.
Find some encouragement and execute upon your dreams this week,
Appreciative of your attention,
