Some designers like to start, but they find finishing hard. The enthusiasm from starting something new dissipates into frustration, moving deadlines and unsatisfactory results.
It may be because you haven’t determined what you’re trying to achieve in a way that you can know whether you’ve achieved it.
Jane Porter, writing in Fast Company notes that:
“When you’re working on something without a clear deadline, seeing it through to its end can be a huge challenge.”
Deadlines are key, even in iterative cycles. Consider it as a time to take stock, review what you’ve done and plan the next stage, even change course. If your deadline is way in the future, consider putting a few reviews in each week to gauge whether you’re going in the right direction.
Probably thinking about this in the countdown to Christmas - not many working days to deliver massive value!
